Reminder: It’s never too late to be what you might have been - the myth of unfulfilled potential.

Many of us wander through life with a nagging feeling of unfulfilled potential, like a smartphone running on low power mode – functional, yes, but far from its full capability. It's a common human experience, this sense of yearning for something more, something perhaps not yet defined (or lost). The quest to identify and understand what we need to feel wholly fulfilled is daunting, but it's far from impossible.

the myth of unfulfilled potential

Unfulfillment is a universal feeling, manifesting in careers that feel more like life sentences, hobbies left by the wayside, and dreams collecting dust on the high shelves of our priorities. It's normal to look in the mirror and wonder, "What if?" But the beauty of life is its unpredictable ability to change.

The first step in navigating the right path to self-fulfilment is identifying which hedges are too high and which paths are dead ends. Are you in a job that numbs your soul? Do your passions feel like distant memories? It's about pinpointing the areas where the colour has faded to grey.

Understanding what we need to feel fulfilled can feel like a midnight toilet calling in the dark. It's inconvenient, frustrating, and requires a lot of fumbling around. However, with persistence, patience, and a little guidance, the lights start to switch on. Fulfilment might mean pursuing a career that sparks joy, reigniting old passions, or simply finding balance in life's chaos.

Here's the crux: it's always possible to be what you might have been. Age is a number, and the calendar is not a deadline but a series of opportunities. The world is filled with stories of late bloomers discovering new passions or careers later in life. Think of it as starting a new TV series after everyone else has watched it – you're not late; you're just timing it perfectly for your schedule.

Taking the leap towards fulfilment can be daunting. It's uniquely personal, peppered with trials, errors, and triumphs. Hell, sometimes it's downright terrifying. But once you take that first step and start feeling exhilarated, you'll wonder why you hesitated.

So, if you need more motivation, remember: the path to being what you might have been started with a single step. Life coaching can be a powerful ally in this journey, providing clarity, direction, and a much-needed push. And in the grand adventure of life, there is always time to put on your shoes and start walking.
